Learn to Sail Courses

To start sailing couldn't be easier. We recommend a 6 day practical course living on board a 38-40 foot boat. With the friendly care and attention of our Instructors you could not be in better hands. We offer a variety of options for the beginner looking to learn to sail for the first time:

RYA Start Sailing and Competent Crew course on a shared boat:
This will give you an introduction to sailing enabling you to get actively involved in sailing the yacht as opposed to being a passenger. By the end of this hands-on course you will have learnt to steer, work sails, keep a lookout and assist in all the day-to-day routines.

If you are looking to start sailing on your own, then this is the perfect introduction. From here you can progress to a Day Skipper Qualification which would focus on the skills necessary to skipper a yacht whilst providing you with practical experience of taking charge.

"Firstly, thanks to you all for such a excellent time. I am just so glad I did it....it's taken a week for the ground to stop heaving. Must admit I was so nervous at first, as I had no real sailing experience at all. But soon felt encouraged and eventually started to feel almost confident. Had a great time, learned a fantastic amount and met some great people."

"I spent a fantastic six days on Tarik Lady from 16 August under Sean's supervision and was really pleased to get the Competent Crew cert at the end of it. It was my first experience of sailing and, though I didn't really know what my expectations were, it exceeded all of them! What a great introduction to sailing. I want to reiterate what a wonderful experience my time on Tarik Lady was, not least due to the confidence that Sean instilled and his relaxed style."
